Credit Card Safety Tips
In today's world, keeping your credit card (both the information and the actual card itself) is more important than ever. With identity theft on the rise, being safe with your credit card can protect you from a lot of headaches and hassles that happen when your identity or credit card information is stolen and used by someone else.
Here are some simple credit card safety tips to follow:
Never give out your credit card information. Whether it's your credit card number, your expiration date, your security number, or your PIN number, be careful with who you give your credit card information to. These days, it's much safer to use your credit card online or at a card swiping station rather than giving the information over the phone or having someone write it down. If you can't use your credit card anonymously online or via a reader, you might want to think about the people you're doing business with and whether you trust them with this vital information about you.
Always know where your credit card is. No matter if you keep your credit card in your wallet (advisable) or lose in your pocket (not advisable), you should make an attempt to know where your card is at all times. You don't need to have it in your possession or sight at all times, but you should at least know where it is and who has access to it. Physical security of your card is very important as it can be used some places even without your PIN number.
Report your stolen credit card right away. The sooner you report your credit card as stolen, the sooner they can cancel the card and make sure no one benefits from it. Even if you lose your credit card, you should report it and wait for a new card so no one else has a chance to use the card.
These are just a few quick tips on keeping your credit card safe. If you follow these basic rules, you're less likely to have your information stolen and used without your knowledge
